I am pleased to announce that The Carbon Creed book preorder campaign begins today! After three (3) years of tireless writing and editing, I am ready to reveal my first published work to the world.
The Carbon Creed is a nonfiction book designed to help people and organizations identify and adopt the beliefs, values, and practices that lead to decarbonization.
My name is Walter L. McLeod, and I am the author of The Carbon Creed. I wrote this book because we are living in the Anthropocene, a time when humans are the dominant force on the Earth, changing the planet’s ecosystems and processes. This has led to human-induced climate change—the unsustainable warming of the planet caused by burning hydrocarbons and releasing greenhouse gases. Some people refuse to acknowledge the threat and urgency of the climate problem—to them climate change feels too overwhelming and defeating. But you must not accept that narrative.
My hope is that, in reading this book, you will discover your role in changing the common public climate narrative from fear to courage. In this book, I hope to instill in you the same sort of passion, determination and sense of purpose that I have for a vibrant, equitable, and sustainable Earth. Ultimately, I want you to see this book as a tool to help you live a carbon conscious life.
The Carbon Creed is your foundation on the journey to decarbonization. This book is organized around the following seven affirmations that will guide you on this path:
Ethics
Mindset
Science
Kinship
Habits
Accountability
Equity
You will love this book if you are willing to tackle and tame the climate narratives nestled in your head and heart. As you meditate on and practice the principles contained in the creed, your personal philosophy on carbon and climate will emerge. Your carbon consciousness will take shape. As you live your carbon truth, it will spread to others within your circle of influence.
Ultimately, The Carbon Creed is more than a book—it is a way of life that speaks to individuals and organizations searching for an inspirational guide to help them find the path to decarbonization.
Many people aspire to one day write a book worth reading. It has taken me more than three years to shape, refine, and distill my thoughts on carbon and climate into the written word. That’s why I’m proud to share The Carbon Creed with you and the rest of the world. My journey would not have been possible without the support of readers like you and those who believe in my message.
To help me successfully launch, publish, and distribute my book, I have partnered with New Degree Press (NDP). NDP provides a unique, community-powered book tour program that gives me the team, system, and author-cohort to be successful. As a book tour ticket holder, you can choose to attend one of four (4) in-person events or one (1) virtual event. The book tour cities will be announced following the pre-sale campaign and spread across the United States. Where possible, NDP will include other author(s) to create a special ‘mini-author conference’ style event for attendees. Private events will be scheduled separately.
NDP gave me a publishing team to help me produce and launch my book. I am working with:
A cohort of professional editors and a proofreader to further hone my book.
A marketing specialist to coach and support me in marketing efforts, and help me reach new audiences.
A layout designer to help with setup and formatting of my paperback and digital books.
An events specialist to help with the logistics and operation of my book tour launch, both virtual and live.
